ME PMS&ALPHA LUB. SYSTEM OVHL-HYUNDAI ANTWERP-DAISHAN HUAFENG

SEA LEGEND team accomplished a full overhaul of the M/E Alpha Lubricator System and Pneumatic System on HOS’s 192.88-metre general cargo HYUNDAI ANTWERP in support of the vessel’s class survey. The maintenance was conducted at Zhoushan Daishan Huafeng Shipyard from 10th September to 2nd October 2026.

The project follows a similar programme executed on sister vessel MV HYUNDAI ULSAN in MAY 2026 at Shanghai cosco shipyard, extending the collaboration to two consecutive projects. 

HMM Ocean Service Co., Ltd. (HOS) is the wholly-owned ship management subsidiary of HMM, South Korea's flagship carrier. As of the end of 2025, it handles the technical management for approximately 130 vessels,comprising oil/chemical tankers, LNG carriers,bulk carriers, container vessels and providing a range of maritime services to its parent company and select third parties, supported by more than 3,000 employee .

M/E Alpha Lubricator System Overhaul

The Alpha Lub. system is critical to modern engine efficiency, and our team treated it with the highest level of precision. The scope of work included overhaul of cylinder lubricators and pump station, renewal of pick-up sensors, inspection of encoders, calibration of load transmitters, verification of system control elements and wiring. After component reassembly, pre-lubrication test, liner internal lubrication inspection and M/E ahead & astern running tests were executed. No abnormal conditions were detected during the whole commissioning procedure.

M/E Pneumatic System Overhaul

Simultaneously, our team executed a comprehensive overhaul of the ME Pneumatic System, covering Reversing Air Cylinders, and the VIT System, Main Starting Valve and Starting Air Distributor.

All worn consumable spare parts and sealing parts were renewed.The starting air distributor was dismantled and inspected, slide valves, bushes and liners were checked in normal condition. Every valve unit passed function testing before re-installation, and the whole pneumatic system simulation test was completed with satisfactory results.    Timing adjustment and verification were finished after reassembly. Final air run , ahead/astern running test were performed and the M/E operated smoothly without any faults.

Modern electronically controlled engines (such as those utilizing Alpha Lubricators and advanced pneumatic controls) require precise calibration, specialized diagnostic tools, and highly trained technicians. Equipped with our dedicated electronic fuel injection engine workshop, we can handle complex overhauls, high-standard testing and calibration services ,retrofits for engine platforms. By combining professional  troubleshooting technology with hands-on engineering expertise, we ensure that every electronic and pneumatic component operates within exact manufacturer tolerances.
